Responsible business is achieving commercial success in ways that honor ethical values and respect people, communities and the natural environment. Santia is a responsible business and manages internal processes to ensure a positive impact on both business and society.

How Santia works with BITC

Santia joined BITC in March 2012. BITC initially undertook a review of Santia’s business practices in order to deliver tailored support against our business priorities. Over the last 16 months we have worked with BITC to:

  • Develop a tailored action plan that structured and prioritised Santia’s responsible business practices. It identified Santia’s strengths and also areas where we could improve.
  • Progress through the action plan which has been tracked through the BITC “Responsible Business Check Up”.
  • Engage with likeminded companies for collaborative working and sharing best practice. This was particularly successful in the BITC Give and Gain Day where we worked in collaboration with Rhondda Cynon Taff Homes on two volunteering projects.

BITC have supported us additionally by:

  • Providing an account manager, Roger Bassett-Jones who works with Santia to maximise the benefits of membership ensuring we meet regularly and gain maximum benefit from membership.
  • Providing example policies which have considerably sped up the process when we have come to produce our own.
  • Running a regular programme of events throughout the year including the Awards Dinner which profiles best practice. Santia were runners up for the carbon reduction award in 2012.
