The Manual Handling Awareness in the Workplace course is intended for all employees. Manual handling tasks at work account for a large proportion of workplace injuries and lost days at work.
This basic awareness course is designed to ensure that employees can identify the hazards associated with manual handling tasks and demonstrate understanding and use of the principles of good posture and safe handling techniques. This will help individuals understand the risks associated with manual handling tasks and protect themselves from discomfort and injury.
At the end of the course employees should be able:
Identify manual handling hazards within the workplace
Explain the function of the spine
How unsafe manual handling techniques can lead to acute and cumulative injuries
Adopt and apply safe techniques when carrying out manual handling tasks
