Course Overview

This course will provide essential information and update existing duty holders and others to ensure they understand the new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015. The course will introduce these people to the new regulations and help them to interpret the key elements.

Who is the course for?

This course is aimed at persons involved in construction work and associated sectors at all levels. It is designed to give delegates an overview of the legal framework as it relates to construction activities and also serves as a foundation for further specific training in construction. It is also suitable for any new workers within construction and associated sectors undertaking roles that are affected by CDM regulations 2015.

Learning Outcomes

The course will cover the following key points (but is subject to change due to the regulations and guidance being currently issued in ‘draft’):  

Introduction to CDM 2015:

  • The Changes from CDM 2007
  • Interpretation and application (to include the interpretation of                   commercial/domestic clients)
  • Definitions
  • Notification.

Summary of Key Roles and Duties:

  • Client
  • Principal Designer
  • Designer
  • Principal Contractor
  • Contractor.
  • ‘Workers’

Overview of Part 4 of the regulations (General health and safety requirements for all parties).

Documentation Requirements:

  • Pre-construction information
  • Construction phase plan
  • Health and safety file.
